About
Jeremy Weiland is a freelance programmer, writer, musician, backpacker, and all around geek living in Richmond, VA. He is married to Tasha McKelvey and together they have a mischevious beagle. His interests also include economics, organizational behavior theories (as well as any political insights that follow), and the German language in which he is fluent.
Born in the very late 70’s, Jeremy grew up in King George, VA where he started programming at age 10, dreaming up half-baked original video games for the family’s Commodore Amiga. He also took piano lessons from first grade to tenth and developed a keen love of music. Jeremy spent his junior year of high school in Munster, Germany as an exchange student with the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program. His musical background was applied to several projects including group and solo performances and recordings for which he composed original material. Jeremy graduated second in his high school class in 1997 and finished a B.S. degree at Mary Washington College in 2001 with majors in both Computer Science and German.
Since a week long trip in the west Virginian mountains as a boy, Jeremy has spent many a weekend wandering Shenandoah National Park in circles with Tasha. He is presently an independent contractor involved in building highly interactive, data-driven applications for the web. Additionally, he is busy with several side projects in web development and integration. Music is still important to Jeremy, and he regularly attends concerts as well as producing his electronic and solo piano compositions. Jeremy also writes regularly on topics mentioned above in his personal blog.
